Anna Linkey, 102, of Diagonal died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at United Church of Diagonal with the Rev. Gwen Trullinger officiating. Burial is in Diagonal Cemetery. Open viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at the church with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Memorials are to United Church of Diagonal and Diagonal Printing Museum. Anna, daughter of Joe and Josie (Prochaska) Skarda, was born Sept. 4, 1916, at Bolivar, Missouri. The family moved to Iowa, and she grew up in the Mount Ayr vicinity and graduated from Mount Ayr Community High School. Anna took teachers training in high school and taught country school for a few years.

On May 14, 1938, she married Leo Linkey in Grant City, Missouri. They farmed in the Ellston, Tingley and Diagonal area. Anna worked at Diagonal Progress, and then worked 17 years at Creston News Advertiser.

Anna was a member of United Church of Diagonal.

Anna is survived by her children, Jim (Dixie) Linkey of Kansas City, Missouri, and Janis Taylor of Diagonal; grandchildren, Michael (Jean Ann) Taylor of Creston, William (Joni) Taylor of Creston, Scott (Niky) Taylor of Waukee, Todd (Jennifer) Taylor of Parkville, Missouri, Shawn (Nate) Persell of Liberty, Missouri, and Tami (Rusty) Burlington of Kansas City, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Ryan (Janelle) Taylor of Waukee, Blair (Martina) Taylor of Sioux City, Colby Taylor of West Des Moines, Jenna Taylor of Creston, Matt, Katie and Kyle Taylor of Parkville, Missouri, Brittlyn and Duke Taylor of Waukee, T.J. and Anna Persell of Liberty, Missouri, and Brock and Emily Burlington of Kansas City, Missouri; great-great-grandchildren, Kayson, Tate, Cora, Landry and Rhett Taylor; sister Mayme Cohron of Atlantic and sister-in-law Peggy Skarda of Mount Ayr.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law Richard Taylor and brothers, Harry, Richard and Elbert Skarda.
