Arturo Marin, 34, of Afton was charged with possession of a controlled substance-marijuana 8:40 a.m. Wednesday on North Division Street.

According to a Creston Police report, Marin was stopped for traffic violations. While speaking with Marin, officers could smell an odor consistent with marijuana, and Marin told officers he had a plastic bag of marijuana in his pocket.

Marin was released on $1,000 bond.

Christopher Lynn Woollums, 30, 2241 S. Cherry St., was charged on three Union County warrants for fifth-degree theft and failure to appear, and was additionally charged with third- or subsequent offense possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia 11:10 a.m. Wednesday on West Montgomery Street.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were notified that Woollums, who had active warrants for his arrest, was at a residence on West Montgomery Street. Officers waited and observed Woollums leave the residence and enter a vehicle. The officers placed Woollums under arrest and found a crystalline substance in his pocket which tested positive for methamphetamine.

Woollums was being held on $30,300 bond.

Jennifer Beard, 402 N. Maple St., reported 2:28 p.m. Tuesday that sometime that day someone broke into her residence and took a Playstation 3 and a Samsung 6 cellphone.

Estimated loss was $200.

Steven Vankerckvoorde, of Norwalk, reported 9:44 p.m. Dec. 7 that around 9 p.m. someone broke into his vehicle while it was parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot and took a bag containing hunting gear and outerwear.
