Amman joins CNA newsroom staff

Monica Amman has joined the Creston News Advertiser staff as staff reporter, covering the Union County Board of Supervisors and Creston Water Works beats and writing features.

Amman, 27, was born in Germany and grew up in Iowa. She and her family moved to Creston in June from Meridian, Idaho.

She attended Iowa State University, graduating in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial design and in 2017 with a master’s degree in industrial design. While at Iowa State as an undergrad, Amman worked at the Iowa State Daily as a designer.

Amman also owns her own photography business and enjoys painting and traveling.

She is looking forward to chronicling the lives of southwest Iowa residents through her writing and photography.

“Also the variety of stuff that I get to learn about and the amount of people I get to talk to,” Amman said.

Amman started as staff reporter Nov. 6. She and her husband Marcus live in Creston with their two sons, ages 4 and 6 months.

To welcome her or send story ideas, contact Amman at or 641-782-2141 ext. 6433.
