Panthers place 10 all-district players

Creston/O-M earn numerous all-district selections

The Creston/O-M Panther football team earned 10 selections to the Class 3A District 9 all-district team announced on Friday.

Kylan Smallwood represented the lone Panther to be selected for first team, earning recognition on the offensive team with 422 yards receiving this season and six touchdown receptions.

Smallwood was appointed to the all-district team for the third-straight year and was also fourth on the team in tackles with 40 takedowns, three solo tackles for loss and two interceptions.

Eli Loudon and one of his big men up front, Kendall Crawford, were both chosen for the second team on the offensive side of the ball.

Loudon finished the season with a 95-for-195 passing stat line for 1,321 yards along with 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The junior play caller also ran for 356 yards and seven scores, earning his selection to the all-district team for the second year in a row.

Crawford, a senior guard, blocked for Loudon as well as a number of backs that had success on the ground over the course of the season.

Also selected to the second team all-district offensive unit was Cael Kralik for his 382 yards receiving and three touchdown receptions.

Kralik also pulled down two interceptions and hit 12 extra point attempts along with a 35-yard field goal.

Second team defense selections included Sam Chapman, Kolby Hulett, Garon Wurster and Rylan Luther.

Chapman, a junior, held down his spot on the defensive line all season, wrapping up 28 1/2 tackles along with 3 1/2 tackles for loss and 2 1/2 total sacks.

Hulett worked his way into the starting lineup and didn’t vanquish his spot as he made 64 tackles, the most of any Creston/O-M player. The sophomore linebacker also had 8 1/2 tackles for loss, 1 1/2 sacks and a fumble recovery.

Wurster also played linebacker for the Panthers and worked his way to the tune of 39 1/2 tackles and seven solo tackles for loss. Also a sophomore linebacker, Wurster managed six fumble recoveries the most of any player in Class 3A.

Rounding out the second team selections was safety Rylan Luther who ended the season with an interception and 59 tackles, the second most on the squad.

The junior made 6 1/2 tackles for loss in the backfield as well as rushing for 440 yards on offense and is now a two-time all-district selection.

Tristan Travis and Andy Weis both received honorable mention nods for their performances this season.

Travis, a senior, rounded out his Creston/O-M career with 20 tackles as a starting linebacker, including 3 solo tackles for loss and 1 1/2 quarterback sacks while also being called on to block as a fullback.
