Accident

Caroline Esther Bathurst, 54, of Creston was cited for failure to provide proof of insurance following an accident 1:26 p.m. Thursday on Highway 34.

According to a Creston Police report, Bathurst was traveling east in the center lane of Highway 34 in a 2015 Kia and another vehicle was traveling east in the outside lane. Bathurst attempted to change lanes while the other vehicle was next to her and she struck the other vehicle. A passenger riding with Bathurst said the other vehicle did not stop, but Bathurst pulled into the John Deere parking lot. When an officer arrived and attempted to ask Bathurst if she was okay, Bathurst did not respond and rolled up her window, but after being asked several times, she rolled the window down, but would not produce a driver’s license, registration or insurance. She said that she did not have insurance on the vehicle and just wanted to drive it home. The officer determined that the vehicle was safe to drive and after citing her, allowed her to take it home.

Estimated damages were $7,000 to Bathurst’s vehicle. It is unknown if the other vehicle was damaged.
