Where is the moral obligation in politics?

From Ron Dunphy

Years ago I took a philosophy class titled “Logic.” The class covered such ideas as “Happy vs. Duty/Obligation.”

Class assignments included making an argument based on a given circumstance. I cannot help but ponder the situation in today’s politics.

What is the truth in certain political ads or pronouncements today? Truth, half truths, according to what person or pundit, or just a lie is sometimes offered.

What is the politician’s duty to we the voting public; what is his obligation? Only something that will make us “happy?”

Moral obligation – a duty which one owes and which he ought to perform, but which he is not legally bound to fulfill.
