Graceland University

LAMONI – Blake Roberts of Mount Ayr has been selected to play in the Iowa Collegiate Honor Band Nov. 16-17. Blake will share the euphonium part and will have the opportunity to work with musicians from colleges and universities all over Iowa. The entire honor band will perform a concert as the finale Nov. 17.

Founded in 1895 and sponsored by Community of Christ, Graceland University in Lamoni is more than just a school. Buena Vista University

STORM LAKE – On Oct. 10, Buena Vista University (BVU) student Jessica Frye was formally inducted into the Omega Pi Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), an international honor society in education. The event took place at BVU’s Marshalltown site located on the Marshalltown Community College campus. Frye is from Winterset and attends BVU’s Creston site.

The honor society, which was founded in 1911 to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching, inducts only those individuals who have exhibited the ideals of scholarship, integrity in service and commitment to excellence in teaching and its allied professions. Selection as a member of KDP is based on high academic achievement, a commitment to education as a career and a professional attitude that assures steady growth in the profession.

Students named to the dean’s list must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the two terms, based on a 4.0 GPA system, and must have taken at least 12 hours of coursework.

Susan Stephens of Diagonal graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree recently with BVU’s online programs.
