CIC courses offered at extension office

Fumigation continuing instruction course is Nov. 13

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Union County office will host a Fumigation Continuing Instruction Course (CIC) for commercial and private fumigant pesticide applicators on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

The local attendance site for the Nov. 13 CIC is Union County Extension Office, 500 E. Taylor St., Suite A, in Creston. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. followed by sessions from 9 to 11 a.m. The registration fee is $35 on or before Nov. 6, and $45 after Nov. 6. The course will provide continuing instruction credit for commercial pesticide applicators certified in categories 7C (fumigation) and 10 (research and demonstration) and private pesticide applicators who are certified to apply fumigants. The course will cover topics including equipment calibration; reduction of off-target movement of pesticides; and pests, pest management and pesticides.

Commercial ag weed, insect, plant disease course set for Nov. 14

Union County will offer the Commercial Ag Weed, Insect and Plant Disease Management CIC for commercial pesticide applicators Wednesday, Nov. 14.

The local attendance site is Union County Extension Office in Creston. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m., and the course runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The registration fee is $35 on or before Nov. 7, and $45 after Nov. 7. To register or to obtain additional information about the CIC, contact Seals at 641-782-8426 or by email to sseals@iastate.edu.

The course will provide continuing instruction credit for commercial pesticide applicators certified in categories 1A, 1B, 1C and 10. Topics covered will include information on equipment calibration and safe application techniques, pesticide drift reduction, phytotoxicity, pesticide stewardship and pest management.

Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in Integrated Pest Management will be offered at this program. Interested participants should bring their CCA number.
