Mount Ayr, Lenox football earn postseason bids

Both Mount Ayr (7-2) and Lenox (7-2) have earned their spots in the final 16 and will begin postseason play this Friday in their respectively classes.

The Raiders open up the Class 1A postseason with a familiar foe in Interstate 35 (9-0), who they played earlier this season. The Roadrunners defeated Mount Ayr 28-13 in Mount Ayr.

Friday’s contest will start at 7 p.m. and be played in Truro. The winner of that contest will play the winner of the Dike-New Hartford/South Hamilton contest with a chance to go to the UNI-Dome.

Lenox will travel to Tabor to take on Fremont-Mills (8-1). The Knights’ only loss this season comes by the way of Exira-EHK, who is sitting on the other side of the bracket against Stanton.

When Lenox has won this season, the offense has been clicking as the Tigers have averaged 56.7 points per game in their seven wins this season.

Lenox and Fremont-Mills is also set to start at 7 p.m. Friday. Full game previews can be found in Thursday’s edition of the News Advertiser.
