Roy Grubbs, 72, of Osceola died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, at his home in Osceola.

Celebration of life services will be 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. Brandon Campbell will officiate the service. Burial will be held at a later date in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation with family present will be from 1 to 3 p.m. service time Monday at the funeral home. Roy Lee Grubbs, son of Raymond Allen Grubbs and Margaleen Ruth (Davis) Grubbs, was born Nov. 29, 1945, in Wyoming. He was educated in the Perry Schools, and graduated from high school there with the class of 1965.

On June 22, 1984, Roy married Gloria June Gile in Osceola. He worked at Jimmy Deans as a meat processor for almost 20 years until they went out of business. Roy then worked at Murray School as a custodian until 2007, when he retired. Roy and Gloria have been Osceola residents since their marriage.

Roy is survived by his wife Gloria; children, Andrew (special friend Cassandra Hansen) of Osceola, Nathan (Vanessa) Grubbs of Murray, Rick (Cassie) Grubbs of Osceola and Amanda (fiancé Alexander Stevenson) of Osceola; grandchildren, Bo Grubbs, Daisy Grubbs, Derek Grubbs, Drake Weaklend, Aurora Weaklend, Carter Grubbs, Dixie Grubbs, Alice Grubbs, Aleyah Stevenson and Ivy Grubbs; brothers, Darral (Debra) Grubbs of Creston and Dale (Dorothy) Grubbs of Dawson; brother-in-law Charlie Gile of Cromwell; sisters-in-law, Sandra Camp of Des Moines, Pat Hall of Council Bluffs, Connie (Bob) Filter of Des Moines, Karen (Wayne) Peterson of Grand River and Vicki (Rod) Zollman of Mount Ayr; two uncles; an aunt and many cousins and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law Melba Gile; brothers-in-law, Larry Gile, Charles Camp and Allan Hall; sister-in-law Helen Gile and infant sister Donna Grubbs.
