Jim Gerdes joins Greater Regional medical staff

Greater Regional Health (GRH) announces Dr. Jim Gerdes, doctor of osteopathic medicine (D.O.), will join the preventive care team and provide management of acute and chronic medical conditions for patients from newborns and up.

Gerdes, who is currently accepting patients, seeks to work in partnership with his patients.

“I offer my patients the opportunity to be involved in their personal care,” said Gerdes. “By thoroughly discussing their diagnoses, the risks and benefits of possible treatments based on current standards of care, my patients will be better prepared to make informed decisions and help establish their individualized treatment plan.”

Gerdes attended Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska, where he obtained his bachelor’s of science degree in psychology in 1998. He then attended Des Moines University, where he received his D.O. in 2004, and completed his residency at Via Christi Family Medicine Residency Program in Wichita, Kansas.

Prior to joining GRH, Gerdes was employed as a family medicine doctor at the McFarland Clinic in Jefferson from 2010 to 2018 and had served as medical director since 2014.

Gerdes and his wife will be moving back to the Creston area upon selling their home in Jefferson. The couple, who have been married 19 years, have six children – three boys and three girls. Gerdes, who is originally from rural southeast Nebraska, enjoys riding motorcycles, Bible studies, mud runs, golf and attending his children’s activities when he’s not working.
