Accidents

No citations were issued following an accident 7:50 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Dogwood Avenue and 170th Street.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, Derek James Paup, 15, of Creston was westbound on Dogwood Avenue and lost control of his 1999 Chevrolet when he tried to stop for a road closure sign and a stop sign. Paup went off the road into the east ditch, knocked over the stop sign and ran through utility guide wires, snapping off the top of the the utility pole.

Estimated damages were $2,500 to Paup’s vehicle and $500 to the utility pole.

No citations were issued following an accident 11:36 a.m. Monday at the intersection of West Adams and North Elm streets.

According to a Creston Police report, Lindsay Jo Behlers, 29, of Orient, was at the stop sign at the intersection of West Adams and North Elm streets traveling west on West Adams Street in a 2012 Chevolet and Jean Rose Stoll, 84, of Creston was at the stop sign in a 2006 Pontiac traveling north on North Elm Street and preparing to make a left hand turn. As Behlers started through the intersection, she was struck by Stoll.

Estimated damages were $2,000 to each vehicle.
