Bulldogs drop first contest

Orient-Macksburg will hope to play more competitive volleyball in the coming days after a loss to ACA Thursday 25-15, 25-11, 25-9.
Kaela Eslinger’s five kills, seven assists and 7-of-8 serving day all led the Bulldogs.
Caitlyn Gist was O-M’s leader with eight digs, also contributed three kills and was 6-7 serving.
Jodi Ott and Hayli Shinn each had four digs and were a combined 10-10 on serves.
Haylee Meyer added two kills and two digs.

CLARINDA — NV dropped two sets to powerful Hawkeye 10 opponent St. Albert in Clarinda’s invite Saturday, 21-11, 21-15,
Natalie Yonker led NV with seven digs and Lexi Shike’s five assists were tops for the Wolverines. McKynli Newbury had four digs.
NV went 23-of-26 on serves with Joslyn Christensen, Baylie Speer and Yonker combining to go 11-11.
Clarinda 2, NV 1
CLARINDA — NV grabbed a set from a good Clarinda team, but fell 11-21, 21-19, 4-15.
Maddax DeVault led NV with her three kills.
Digging up the volleyball for the Wolverines were Yonker (8), Christensen (6), DeVault (5) and Shike (5).
NV 2, Wayne 0
CLARINDA — The Wolverines had their best effort of the day in a 21-18, 21-7 sweep of Wayne.
Corinne Bond led NV with five kills and a 14-14 serving effort and added five aces. McKynli Newbury was a perfect 12-12 serving with three aces.
Yonker posted six digs while Shike had five to go with six assists.
