Jeanette Hassis, 74, of Lorimor died Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, at Regency Care Center in Norwalk.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave., in Creston. Burial will be at a later date. The Rev. David Tebbenkamp will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, with family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials are to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.
Jeanette Marie Hassis, daughter of Earl Jackson and Cleo Grace (Kress), was born Dec. 15, 1943, in Des Moines. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines.
On Sept. 22, 1966, Jeanette married Richard Lee Wheat in Des Moines. They settled in Davenport, where she was a homemaker. They later divorced. She returned to Lorimor, and in 1975, moved to Pocatello, Idaho.
On April 9, 1976, she married Martin Hassis. They returned to Lorimor in 1979. Jeanette volunteered at her church and also helped with the New Lorimorian paper.
She was a member of Lorimor Baptist Church.
Jeanette is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Blaine) Singer of Lorimor and Laura (Josiah) Ibbotson of Bremerton, Washington; sons, Richard Wheat Jr. of Mount Ayr and Mike (Rachel) Hassis of Grimes; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews and other family.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; husband Martin in 1979; brothers, Robert (Janet) Jackson and John Jackson; sisters, Juanita Brobst (Walter), Opal (Author) Brooks and infant sister Emma Jackson; granddaughter Ashley Davis; niece Joyce Rasmussen and nephews, Ricky Holland and Don and Tyler Brobst.
