SWCC cross country team to host 5K pancake feed fundraiser

The Southwestern Community College cross country program is hosting a 5K, 1-mile fun run and pancake feed this Saturday.

The cross country team is fundraising for general cross country and track and field funds. These funds will help pay for traveling expenses like food and hotel costs along with uniforms.

This is the first year the team is hosting the pancake run as a fundraiser.

“We are hoping for a good turnout,” said sophomore cross country runner BreAnn Rhodes.

Races will begin at the main entrance of the Instructional Center on the SWCC campus at 5101 W. Townline St.

“It would help us out a lot and we would enjoy seeing everyone get out and participate,” said Rhodes.

The registration fee for the 5K is $25 and those who were registered by July 28, are guaranteed a t-shirt. Along with the competitive 5K, a free 1-mile fun run is also offered and will begin at 9 a.m.

The fun run is free, but donations to the cross country program will be accepted.

“I look forward to seeing people come out and really enjoy themselves,” said Rhodes.

The free-will donation pancake feed is open to the public and will be held in the Spartan Cafe, located in the SWCC Student Center. The suggested donation amounts are $10 for adults, $5 for children.
