Melissa Renee Fils, 54, of Creston was cited for failure to yield half of roadway following an accident 5:20 p.m. Saturday on Highway 25.
According to a Union County Sheriff’s report, a deputy observed Fils, driving a 2007 Dodge, cross the center line and strike a 2002 Chevrolet being driven by Douglas Dean Lamb, 54, of Diagonal. Fils said she turned to speak with a passenger in her vehicle when the accident happened. Fils was transported to Greater Regional Medical Center by ground ambulance.
Estimated damages were $8,000 to Fils’ vehicle and $5,000 to Lamb’s vehicle.

No citations were issued following an accident 7:56 a.m. Monday at the intersection of East Howard and North Cherry streets.
According to a Creston Police report, Dennis Dean Foglesong, 64, of Thayer, was stopped at a stop sign on the corner of East Howard and North Cherry streets heading west when a tractor-trailer approached from the south with its blinker on to turn right. To give the semi more room to turn, Foglesong said he started to back up and that was when he struck a 2015 Kia being driven by Madison Chauntel Guerrero, 28, of Orient.
Estimated damages were $100 to Foglesong’s vehicle and $1,500 to Guerrero’s vehicle.
