Alvin Ray Faux, 82, of Bridgewater died Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle with burial in Garner Cemetery in Bridgewater with full military graveside rites by William Thompson American Legion Post No. 703 of Bridgewater. A luncheon was held at the church following services at the cemetery. The Rev. Steven Broers officiated. Open visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Steen Funeral Home, 525 Maple St., in Fontanelle with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. ​Memorials may be directed to the Alvin Faux memorial fund to be determined later. Alvin Ray Faux, son of Byron and Helen (Cooper) Faux, was born Dec. 11, 1935, in Madison County. Alvin attended school in Patterson and Winterset. He served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.

On Oct. 31, 1954, he married Evelyn Mae Bauer in the Lutheran Church in Winterset. They moved to Fontanelle in 1956, and then in 1967, they purchased their farm south of Bridgewater which he farmed until his retirement. Alvin was a mechanic for Gipple Implement and Andersen Equipment for many years and then he drove a road grader for 15 years for Adair County.

Alvin was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle.

Alvin is survived by his wife Evelyn Faux of Bridgewater; son David Faux of Bridgewater; daughters, Cynthia Quiroz of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Diane (Steve) Brown of Corning; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Eugene Faux of Macksburg and Donald Faux of Patterson; sisters, Fannie Palmer of Norwalk and Rose (Chuck) Benedict of Redfield; other relatives and friends.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Vicky Hill and brothers, Darryl (Wayne), Byron (Junior) and Wallace.
