Union County 4-H members present 2018 communication exhibits

On Sunday, June 24, Union County 4-H’ers from across the county diverged on SWCC’s Creston campus to present their achievements in the communication 4-H project area. Eleven 4-H members exhibited their talents in public speaking and performance during this showcase event.

Allivea Skarda and Chloe Larson taught the audience how to make homemade toothpaste and bubbles during their working exhibit. They received a purple ribbon.

Emmet Long, Peyton Long, Clarissa Hoffman and the team of Riley Long and Jacob Driskill gave educational presentations, which are an opportunity to share educational information about a topic for which they’re passionate. All presentations received purple ribbons.

Some 4-H members also chose to showcase their performing arts talents. Brittany Seals performed a piano solo titled, “Moonlight Sonata,” for which she received a blue ribbon. Peyton, Riley and Emmet Long performed a piano medley of movie song excerpts for which they received a purple ribbon. Brittany Seals and Sara King performed an instrumental and vocal duet titled, “The Lion and the Lamb,” for which they received a blue ribbon. Riley Beard performed Silver Linings Playbook, for which she received a purple ribbon. Christian White performed cowboy poetry, “My Kind of Truck,” for which he received a purple ribbon.

All 4-H members that received a purple ribbon will represent Union County at the Iowa State Fair.
