Crestmoor Jr. Golf Club takes 12 trophies

Crestmoor Golf Club hosted the third tournament of the Southwest Iowa Junior Golf Tour Friday.

A total of 26 Crestmoor Jr. Golf team members entered competition, with 12 earning trophies.

First-place trophies went to Maria Groumoutis (Ages 12-14), Rylie Driskell (15-17) and Beau Thompson (14-17).

Kennedy Strider took third in the girls nine and under division with 40 strokes, two back of first place. In the same division, Crestmoor’s Gretchen Hoepker shot a 41 and Eva Chesnut carded a 60.

Nevaeh Chesnut posted a 77 in the 10-11 division.

Groumoutis’ 56 put her well ahead of the rest of the field in the 12-14 division of nine holes.

Driskell carded a 40 for her win in 15-17, finishing four strokes ahead of Sydney Hartsock in second and 15 ahead of Taylor Buxton in third. Caitlin Clark added a 59.

Rhett Driskell took second in the boys nine and under division of five holes with his score of 28. Also in that class from the Crestmoor Jr. Golf team were Tanner Ray (39), Baret Lane (40), Adrian Schlapia (40), Ryder Sharp (44), and Charlie Anderson (59).

Parker Varner took third in the boys 10-11 division with his 61.

Crestmoor boys in the 12-13 division were Willie Clayton (70), Patrick Varner (71), Casen Dryden (75) and Denton Lane (75).

Thompson won the 14-17 division by carding a 54 over nine holes to win by two strokes.
