Tigers win by seventh heroics

Lenox softball pounds NV

LENOX — Colton Hogan got the job done with a game-winning RBI single to give the Tigers a 4-3 win over Nodaway Valley Tuesday after trailing 3-2 entering its last at-bat.

Lenox improved to 8-4 with the win and 4-4 in the POI.

Aaron Schmitz pitched all seven innings, striking out 12 and gave up seven hits.

He also was 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Danny Ramirez added a double.

Jhordan Montiel scored a run, stole two bases and contributed the other Tiger RBI.

Corbin Bond was 2-for-4 with an RBI double, Thomas Britten added an RBI double in the seventh to tie the game.

Caelan DeVault had a pinch-hit single and scored one of two Wolverine runs in the seventh.

Spencer Thompson pitched six innings and

allowed three hits over that span.

Lenox 12, NV 1

Lenox’s Jessica Anderson had another 3-for-4 game, her fourth such game of the season and posted two RBIs as Lenox posted three runs in the first and eight in the second in a 12-1 defeat of Nodaway Valley in five innings Tuesday.

Anderson also scored two runs.

Joining Anderson in scoring two runs apiece were Cassidy Nelson, who also was 3-3 at the plate with two RBIS, and Brooke Miller, who went 1-4 with a double and three RBIS.

The Tigers pounded 12 hits to Lenox’s two. 

TJ Stoaks tallied two RBIs with a hit and struck out seven Wolverines in the circle. 

She allowed just two hits and surrendered her only run in the first inning. 

Stoaks has 137 strikeouts in 97 innings of work as of Tuesday night. 

Reagan Weinheimer scored the lone NV run as McKynli Newbury and Corinne Bond had the lone NV hits.
