Donald E. Keller, 69, of Creston died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at the VA Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 809 W. Montgomery St., in Creston with the Rev. James "Pete" Sheesley officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by Theodore J. Martens Post No. 1797 and Iowa National Guard Honor Guard, will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation with family present will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, before the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Donald Eugene Keller, son of Raymond Arthur and Grace Irene (Gowey) Keller, was born Nov. 10, 1948, in Creston. He attended school in Creston. On Aug. 2, 1967, Donald enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged Aug. 1, 1969, and went on to serve in the Army Reserves for many years.

Donald married Pamela Richards in Kansas, and the two later divorced. For a short time, Donald moved to Shenandoah, and in 1979, he moved back to Creston.

On Oct. 12, 1984, he married Linda Austin.

Donald was a member of Theodore J. Martens Post No. 1797, Creston American Legion and Creston Eagles Club.

Donald is survived by his wife Linda Keller of Creston; children, David (Stephanie) Buchanan of Creston, Amy (Nathan) Watson of Creston, Jason (Shanna) Keller of Creston, Tracy Davis of Creston, Jonathan (Tammy) Buchanan of Ames, William (Lois) Buchanan of Osceola, Philip (Pamela) Buchanan of Clarion and Kevin (Tammy) Buchanan of Clearfield; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Elaine (Carl) Boyer of Mount Ayr; brother Robert (Nancy) Keller of Macksburg, Ohio; a host of other relatives and numerous friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; children, Timothy Keller and Nancy Buchanan; brother James Fredricksen and sisters, Irene Bradshaw and LaVon Minnick.
