James E. Orr Sr., 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at his home in Orient. He was born April 12, 1938, in Creston, the son of Arlene Viola (Isenhour) and Russell Martin Orr.

Jim graduated from Creston High School, and was a United States Air Force veteran. He returned to Creston and worked at Montgomery Wards, then worked as an engineer at Burlington Northern Railroad for 30 years before retiring. Jim was a member of the Elks, Eagles, Masons, Audubon Society, the Shriners and was a Boy Scout leader.

He is survived by his children Jim Jr., Richard, Kevin, Terri, Tawna, Russell and Tonika and his sister-in-law, Sandy Metzger and her husband Dan. Jim enjoyed his time with his 11 precious grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews and Gibs, his cat.

Jim’s path to the Creator was lit by his wife Hazel, his parents, his sister Sandra, in-laws, Floyd and Carrie Johnson and sister-in-law Jeri Graver. Jim shall always be remembered for his loving heart and conspiratorial smile. He was well known for his pranks and jokes, finding new recipes, tech gadgets, woodworking, philanthropy and entertaining friends and family.

There will be a celebration of life ceremony from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Orient United Methodist Church.
