Steven Ashby, 52, of Creston died Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Greater Regional Hospice Home - HCI.

Celebration of life services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. The Rev. Dale Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Des Moines. Open visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 15, at the funeral home with family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials are to Greater Regional Hospice in Creston or Creston Animal Rescue Effort. Steven Junior Ashby, son of Junior Edgar Ashby and Margaret Sue (Evans) Ashby, was born Dec. 11, 1965, in Des Moines. In 1975, the family moved to a farm southwest of Murray. Steven graduated from Murray High School in 1984. After high school, he worked for Overland Truck Plaza in Osceola. In 1987, Steven began to work for Bunn-O-Matic in Creston and held many different positions. In 1994, Steven purchased a house in Creston and continued his employment at Bunn until he was no longer able to work due to his cancer.

Steven is survived by his sisters, Sandy (Steve) Garner of Osceola and Shirley (Dale) Williams of Naperville, Illinois; nieces and nephews, Aaron (Jonna) Garner, Amber Garner, Tabitha (Kyle) Hayes, Brenna, Eric and Philip Williams; great-nieces and -nephews, Kaitlyn, Isaac, Brayson and Brayden Garner, Jaycee Shannon, and Andrew and Hudson Hayes.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents and sister April Ashby.
