Where will patients go for medical care?

From Jim Stalker

Creston

Upon visiting Greater Regional Medical Center’s website and reading their words, “With the announcement of Internal Medicine closing on May 31, Greater Regional would like to thank Dr. Young and his staff for a great working relationship that was developed with his time here. At this time, Internal Medicine chose not to accept a fair market value and/or new retail space that Greater Regional presented, and with that we wish Dr. Young and his staff the best.”

Certainly, that is one view. However, there are always at least two sides to a conversation. I’m more concerned about Dr. Young and Dr. Wimer’s patients. Where are they, myself included, supposed to go for medical care when it has been recently stated that all the other doctors’ plates are already filled.

I find nowhere in the updated GRMC website that tells us, like the old website, that GRMC is not interested in expansion into surrounding communities. Obviously, “the times, they are a changing!”

We, his patients, shall all miss Dr. Young, and Dr. Wimer, and feel badly not more was done by a contingent of the people who can get things done in this town, to convince them to stay. Perhaps it is not too late.
