Murray girls take Moravia meet

MORAVIA — Murray’s girls track team grabbed a team victory at the Moravia meet Monday evening, finishing with 134 team points to edge athletic squads from Seymour (123) and Lamoni (115).

First place finishes went to Hailey Chew in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 5 1/2 inches, the 4x200 crew of Chew, Emma Decker, Macy Greif and Zoie Lecy (Lecy quickest split in 30.3 seconds), the 4x100 unit of the same makeup and the sprint medley group of Katy Gibbs, Decker, Greif and Lecy (Lecy with quickest split of 14.1 seconds).

Kylie Shields deserved the title of ‘Ms. Distance’ as she took second in each the 800, 1,500 and 3,000 meter runs (13:44).

Megan Keller took second in both the 400 and 200 meter runs.

The 4x800 relay unit of Mackenzie Keller, Autumn Ashby, Hallee Ashby and Shields took second as well.

On the boys side, Colton Siefkas took the top finish as he earned second in the 3,200. He also took fifth in the 1,600.

Other top Mustang boys finishes came from Josh Webb at fifth in the 200 meter dash, the third place distance medley group of Webb, Cole Lecy, Damien Kitner and Siefkas, as well as the fourth place 4x400 and 4x200 relays and the fifth place 4x100.

Individual top five finishes from the Diagonal boys came from Clayton Hansen in fifth in the 100 meter dash in a time of 13.09 seconds, Blake Alden in fourth in the 400 meter dash in 1:00.19, followed closely in fifth by Hansen and Alden in third in the 400 meter hurdles. Hansen also took fifth in the long jump.

The Diagonal girls were led by Erin Sobotka with a winning time of 6:04.69 in the 1,500 meter run, the first place 4x800 crew of Sobotka, Maddie Lohmann, Emily Newton and Kayla Bentley which ran a time of 13:16.03. Lohmann in third in the 800 meter run (3:12.53),

For Orient-Macksburg, Blake Sevier grabbed a victory in the shot put by throwing 41-4.2 and was third in the discus.

Treyg Webb took third in the 100 meter dash and sixth in the 200 meter dash.
