Corning Opera House presents ‘Godspell’

CORNING – Godspell 2012 Revival Musical will be presented 7 p.m. Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5, at the Corning Opera House.

Godspell is a musical, composed and written by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak. It opened off-Broadway in May 1971 and has played many revivals since. The first act of the musical is a series of parables, mostly based on the Gospel of Matthew. The parables are interspersed with a variety of modern music with lyrics from traditional hymns. The second act is the Last Supper and passion of Christ. The cast builds a sense of community throughout the musical.

The nine cast members, from high school through adult, are from the Creston and Corning areas. They are Andrew Bardole, Becca Coleman, Bobette Fife, Jim Heaton, Brittany Mullen, David Qualseth, Cheryl Thompson, Missy Wenrli and Hannah Wenrli. Andrew Heaton is stage designer and technical director. De Heaton is director and choreographer.

Advance ticket prices are good until 24 hours before the start of the show. All seats are general admission with no reserved seating. Adults are $12 in advance or $15 on the day of show, and students are $5 and $10.
