O-M FFA holds banquet

ORIENT – The Orient-Macksburg (O-M) FFA parent-member banquet was held April 6 in the O-M High School gym. A total of 170 guests, friends and members filled the banquet hall as members of O-M FFA were recognized for this year’s achievements.

President Brooklyn Sammons welcomed those in attendance, and a bountiful meal was served by Madison County Pork Producers. This year’s conduct of meeting team with President Wiley Ray, Vice President Zayden Rawling, Secretary Blake Thompson, Treasurer Brady Dunmire, Adviser Chance Kiddoo, Sentinel Gavin Hoste and Reporter Alexia Niesemier, presented the opening ceremonies. Cody Winkler gave a very inspiring presentation of the FFA creed, and was awarded the Star Greenhand Award.

The O-M Chapter was very proud to present Andrew Hribal the Star Chapter Farmer, Sammi Long was given the outstanding underclassmen award and Brooklyn Sammons was the chapters selection for Outstanding Leadership Award. Honorary Chapter Farmer Degrees where awarded to Dean and Renee Sammons, Donna Wallace and Chris Corkean. Carson Thompson and Cameo Walker were recognized for being top fruit salesmen. Aianna Sitzmen Waltz was recognized as the chapters district officer candidate, Izak Hribal and Ashlyn Kralik were selected for the state FFA band and Caitlyn Buckman was selected to perform in the state FFA chorus.

Sub-district competition earned the conduct of meeting team a silver award with members Wiley Ray, Rawling, Brady Dunmire, Blake Thompson, Chance Kiddoo, Gavin Holste and Derek Gross.

District awards were given to Cortney Gross – Bronze in Public Speaking, Brooklyn Sammons – Silver in Ag Broadcasting and competing at state were Long in ag sales and Cody Winkler in Creed speaking.

Thompson, Sammons and Andrew Hribal were recognized for receiving the Iowa Farmer Degree.

A very successful pie auction was lead by auctioneer Justin Geidel. The chapter thanked everyone for their support. Retiring officer awards were given out by Andrew Hribal to Sammons – president, Kralik – vice president, Blake Sevier – secretary, Stephen Buckman – sentinel, Cameo Walker – reporter, Quincy Davis – treasurer and Andrew Hribal – student council representative.

Sammons closed the banquet with the “Pledge of Allegiance.”
