Pat Megrew, 81, of Cromwell died Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Creston Specialty Care.

Celebration of life service will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 23, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. The Rev. Jason Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in rural Cromwell. Visitation with family present will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home. William Pat Megrew, son of Robert Marshall Megrew and Edith Perl (Johnson) Megrew, was born March 17, 1937, in Mystic. He graduated from Cromwell High School, and continued at a junior college in California for trade schooling in air conditioning.

On Jan. 9, 1954, Pat married Gwen Ellen Petrie in Greenfield. They settled in Azusa, California, in southern California. Pat worked for a southern California gas company following his schooling. He worked in the field as well as in sales, covering many aspects of the business. They moved to Hesperia, California, a short time in 1992. In 1995, Pat returned to Cromwell.

Pat was a member of Cromwell Church and Creston Elks.

Pat is survived by his sons, Robert (Dixie) Megrew of Taylor, Texas, and Bill Megrew of Hesperia, California; daughters, Patricia Lujan of Phelan, California, and Denice Megrew of Menifee, California; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother Paul ‘Jay’ Megrew of Iowa City and good friend Gerald Sticken of Creston.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gwen and a daughter in infancy, Jackie Megrew.
