Youth military program open house planned in Norwalk

NORWALK – The Central Iowa Division of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps is holding a new member informational open house from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 25. This open house will be held at the Norwalk Police Department, 1100 Chatham Ave., in Norwalk.

Sea Cadets is a leadership and adventure program for youth ages 10 to 17 that have a desire to learn about the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Army and Air Force. Depending on the rate achieved in the Naval Sea Cadets, former cadets may be eligible to enlist in the armed forces at an advanced pay grade. Being a member honorably discharged from the Sea Cadet Corps is looked upon favorably by selection boards for military academies and ROTC program scholarships.

Through exposure to rigorous, authentic and inspiring training experiences, the Central Iowa Division aspires to endow cadets with the knowledge, skills and positive mindset to successfully pursue a meaningful future of their choice.

Training is available this summer and one weekend a month throughout the year.
