Three local senior basketball stars compete in all-star game

AVOCA — Three local athletes competed in the KMAland All-Star Basketball Classic Sunday at AHSTW.

Mount Ayr’s Caylie Hickman (pictured below) finished as a runner-up in the girls 3-point competition and semifinalist in the combined 3-point competition. She scored two points and had an assist and rebound in Team Schoening’s lost to Team McClintock. Southwest Valley’s Trenton Drake scored six points, grabbed six rebounds and had three blocks in Team Howard’s 117-100 win over Team Harris (coached by Creston native GG Harris).

Nodaway Valley’s Spencer Thompson (pictured above) scored three points, had a block and a rebound for Team Harris, and also competed in the 3-point shooting compeition.
