Southwestern Community College (SWCC) students Megan Davenport of Diagonal, Jordan Gehlhaar of Humeston and Tom Hol of Osceola were honored as members of the 2018 All-Iowa Academic Team during a recognition ceremony held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the Embassy Suites in Des Moines.
Davenport, a May 2017 graduate of Diagonal High School, is an engineering major. She is a board of trustees scholarship recipient, has been on the president’s list and is a Phi Theta Kappa member. Once she receives her associate degree from SWCC, she plans to transfer to Iowa State University.
Gehlhaar, a May 2016 graduate of Mormon Trail High School, is a family services major. At SWCC, she has been named to the president’s list and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Following graduation from SWCC this spring, Gehlhaar plans to transfer to University of Northern Iowa.
Hol, a business management major, has been extremely active in Phi Theta Kappa while attending SWCC. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa’s distinguished regional officer team, received regional recognition for outstanding leadership and received chapter recognition for outstanding leadership. Following graduation from SWCC, Hol plans to transfer to Drake University.
Phi Theta Kappa International serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students worldwide. Beta Eta Nu is SWCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.
