Creston Farmers Market will hold its annual farmers market meeting and workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 10, at the restored Creston Depot, 116 W. Adams St., in Creston. Out-of-town farmers market vendors and market managers are invited to attend.
Alexi Groumoutis, Southern Iowa RC&D local foods coordinator, will give an overview of successes and challenges learned from last year’s farmers markets in seven southern Iowa counties. She will also share tips for growing a successful market with more millennial shoppers.
Brian Zachary, Creston Farmers Market manager, will give an overview of Creston’s Farmers Market, including rules and regulations. He will have registration forms on hand.
Dale Raasch, organic farmer from Bridgewater Farms, will talk about his successful farming business – sharing tips, successes and challenges of operating an organic farm.
Sandy Andrews, food safety expert from ISU Extension, will give a presentation on food safety regulations.
