Adair County Sheriff

Cody Leon Zimmerline, 26, of Adair was charged with violating a no contact order 2:49 p.m. Feb. 4. Later that day, upon being booked into the Adair County Jail, Zimmerline was also charged with second offense possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of contraband in a correctional institution.

According to an Adair County Sheriff’s report, an Adair County jailer was booking Zimmerline into the system when she found numerous small plastic bags in his property, which contained a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana and white crystal powder. Field tests proved the green leafy substance was marijuana and the crystal powder was methamphetamine.

Zimmerline was being held on $5,000 bond.

Joshua Ernst Knuth, 36, of Creston, was charged with operating while under the influence 3:47 a.m. Feb. 5 on Highway 92.

According to an Adair County Sheriff’s report, at approximately 2 a.m. officers were called out for a white truck all over the road and traveling at a high rate of speed on Interstate 80, and at approximately 2:23 a.m. an officer met a white pickup just north of the intersection of Highway 92 and he followed the truck and observed that it was traveling 62 MPH in a 55 MPH zone, was having trouble staying in its driving lane and swaying abruptly before pulling the vehicle over. Upon pulling the vehicle over and speaking with the driver, the officer stated he could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the driver and that his eyes were bloodshot and watery, and he admitted he had been drinking and a breath test registered a blood alcohol level of .179.

Knuth was being held on $2,000 bond of which he paid 10 percent.

Connie Jae Emgarten, 49, of Casey, was charged with driving while barred 2:44 p.m. Feb. 6.

According to an Adair County Sheriff’s report, Emgarten was observed getting into a vehicle and driving south out of Adair. The caller, another officer, secured Emgarten until assistance could arrive to take over the stop at which time Emgarten stated she thought her driver’s license was temporarily restricted.

Emgarten was being held on $2,000 bond.

Todd Richard Eble, 50, of Bridgewater, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension 2:44 p.m. Feb. 7.

Eble was released under his own recognizance.

Zimmerline was being held on $1,000 cash only bond.

Warren Matthew Preston, 22, of Waukegan, Ill, was charged with operating while under the influence and open container 11:17 p.m. Saturday.

According to an Adair County Sheriff’s report, Preston was involved in a single car accident on Highway 25. Preston stated that because of the snow he lost control of his vehicle and ended up in the ditch. The officer noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Preston, and that he also had bloodshot watery eyes and observed an open container of alcohol behind his seat.He failed a field sobriety test and further testing showed he was over the legal limit for the state of Iowa.

Preston was held on $1,000 bond.
