Three Panther girls set tone for tournament

COUNCIL BLUFFS – Creston bowling had three girls finish in the top 10 of the Hawkeye 10 bowling tournament from Friday.

Kim Orr had the third best individual score of the day, bowling a 364 for the Panthers. Laura Weis finished fifth overall, posting a 346 and Casey Batten bowled a 340 series score netting her with the seventh-best overall score.

Those three combined to help the Panther girls finish second overall as a team over the course of the tournament.

Creston ended the day just 45 pins (2,307) off of the first place mark of Lewis Central who knocked down 2,352 pins. Denison ended the day in second, just one pin shy of Lewis Central’s mark.

The Creston boys placed sixth in the Hawkeye 10 meet thanks to top scores from Zac Hague (364), Eli Hartman (360) and Walker Patterson (351).

The Panther boys combined to knock down 2,487 pins. Lewis Central also took home the first position on the boys side as well, hitting 3,145 pins.

Creston head coach Ron Pendegraft was pleased with his team’s performance over the course of the tournament.

UP NEXT – Creston looks forward to the district tournament Tuesday in Pleasant Hill as the Panthers will be set to start at 1 p.m. They will face other schools such as Clarke, Centerville, Bondurant-Farrar, Knoxville, Lamoni and Southeast Warren.
