Accidents

Douglas John Lee, 71, of Creston was warned following an accident 9 a.m. Friday on the corner of North Lincoln and West Howard streets.

According to a Creston Police report, Lee was in a 1997 Ford westbound on West Howard Street approaching a stop sign, stopped at the sign and pulled forward and paused before pulling out into the intersection, where he did not see a 2013 Ford driven by Mark Eugene Chubick, 54, of Creston, who was traveling north on North Lincoln Street and had the right of way. Chubick said Lee did not stop and he attempted to avoid the collision by steering to the right but couldn’t because of the snow on the roadway.

Damage estimates were $4,000 to Lee’s vehicle and $5,000 to Chubick’s vehicle.

No citations were issued following an accident 3 p.m. Monday on West Mills Street.

According to a Creston Police report, a 2008 Jeep was illegally parked on the south side of West Mills Street in the 500 block, and it was struck in the rear by an unknown vehicle damaging the rear bumper. The grill of the unknown vehicle was left behind. There was a Ford emblem on the bumper, but no other identifying marks.The unknown vehicle left the scene before anyone saw it to get more information. The unidentified owner found the damage upon returning home from work.

Damage estimates for the Jeep were $2,000.
