Karen K. Abell-Trenkle, 67, of Lenox passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, in her home.

Karen was born in Creston to Don and Jean Abell. She attended Creston Schools and SWCC, where she received her certification as a medication aide.

On Aug. 16, 1968, she married Kenneth Turner. They made their home in Creston where they raised their three children. They later divorced.

Karen worked at Creston Nursing and Rehab for several years, Gits Mfg. and Upsher Laboratories. Karen later re-married and divorced.

She was a member of the American Legion. She was also proud to call herself a "Southsider." She was "Mom" to many and always had a pot of coffee on.

Karen is survived by her children, Tracy (AJ) Miller of Mount Ayr, Tony (Sheena) Turner of Glenwood and Rusty Turner of El Reno, Oklahoma; sisters, Barb (Ed Crenshaw) Filer of Creston, Debbie (Steve) Kriefels of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Kim (Bruce) Sevier of Fort Worth, Texas; brothers, Pat (Joyce) Abell and Kevin (Jackie) Abell, both of Kearney, Nebraska, and John (Lisa) Abell and Don (Sally) Abell, both of Creston; grandchildren, Kenney Mattson of Stockbridge, Georgia, Shelby Mullen of Mount Ayr, Stevan Mullen of Tullahoma, Tennessee, Jessica (Justin) Leisner of Creston, and Kendall, Kaden and Kinsley, of Glenwood; great-grandchildren, Peyton Robinson of Mount Ayr and Stevie Kaye Leisner of Creston; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Jean Abell and brother Mike Abell.

Celebration of life services will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Church of Christ, 510 S. Poplar St., in Creston. The family would like to invite you to join them for lunch and sharing memories downstairs after the service where we will have Karen's famous chicken and noodles.
