Conference win No. 1

Panther girls control Clarinda in coasting to victory

CLARINDA — Sam Dunphy came up big for the Creston Panthers for the third straight game, in what was Creston's first conference win of the season, a 56-30 result in its favor at Clarinda Tuesday.

"Kelsey got in early foul trouble," Creston assistant coach Bryant McCabe said. "Again, Sam came up huge with 12 points in the first half and lots of boards."

The Panthers got going with easy baskets by pressuring the Cardinals for steals, which helped energize them early.

Sydney Hartsock helped facilitate several baskets with five of Creston's 13 assists.

Dunphy, Brielle Baker (12) and Bre Wallace (10) all got into the double digits in points as nine Panthers scored in all.

Wallace added four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

"Wallace has played awesome on both ends of the floor since Christmas Break," McCabe said. "Defended well, shot well and has passed the heck out of the ball."

JV girls win by 40

The Panther girls JV squad jumped out to an 18-2 lead and never looked back in a 57-17 win at Clarinda Tuesday.
