The boys and girls Panther bowling teams took care of business at their home tournament Saturday winning both sides for the competition.

The boys finished with 2,208 pins, taking a slight margin over second place Nodaway Valley which finished with 2,128 pins.

The girls also snuck out with a win, finishing with 2,068 pins just 35 pins more than the Nodaway Valley girls team that snagged second place.

“We came out a little slow but with Kim shooting the high game of the day, with a 213, that got us jump started and in the second game,” said head coach Ron Pendegraft.

Kim Orr led the girls, knocking down 324 pins after bowling a 213 in her first game.

Nodaway Valley closed on the Panther girls lead during bakers, nabbing 730 to 695 advantage over Creston/O-M.

“In the final game we shot 153 and forced them to throw their highest game of the day, but they came up short and we ended up with a 30-pin victory,” said Pendegraft

But it wasn’t enough to cut into Creston/O-M’s lead

Zac Hague and Jonathan Seals led the way for the boys team clearing 325 and 303 pins, respectively.

The boys built on their small lead over Nodaway Valley in bakers, posting the highest score of all four team with 769 pins.

“(We) jumped out to a 121-pin lead after the first two games of bakers,” said Pendegraft. “At that point they begin to chip away at the lead, but could not close the gap.”

Mount Ayr and Lenox rounded out the competition with the Raiders finishing in third in both the boys and girls tournament. The Tigers rounded out the scores on both sides as well.

Mount Ayr’s Kaitlyn Dolecheck and Conner Swank both won the individual competitions in the tournament. Swank hit 335 pins while Dolecheck hit one less, at 334.
