Donna Moran

Creston

Donna Moran, 74, of Creston died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Celebration of life memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. The Rev. Delores Doench will officiate. Burial will be private. Visitation with family present will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Creston Animal Rescue Effort or Cromwell United Church of Christ. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Donna Lee Eklund, daughter of Maxine E. (Tinkler) Eklund and Nels Arthur Eklund, was born March 1, 1943, in Creston. She was educated in Cromwell schools.

In 1958, Donna married Patrick Means in Creston. They lived and worked in Cromwell and Creston areas. Donna was a homemaker and worked at Places, and later Casey’s. Pat and Donna divorced in 1967. Donna then worked at Bunn-O-Matic for many years.

On Dec. 3, 1992, Donna married William O. Moran in Grant City, Missouri. They first lived at Lorimor, later moving to an acreage near Arispe. Donna went on to work as a cook for many years at East Union Schools. They moved to Creston in 2009.

Donna had been a member of Cromwell United Church of Christ.

Donna is survived by her husband William O. “Bill” Moran of Creston; daughter Patti Jo (Mark) Normandeau of Cromwell; sons, Michael D. Means of Creston and Mark (Christine) Means of LaGrange, Georgia; sisters, Judy (Jack) Hulett of Creston and Diane (Bill) Ogbourne of Osceola; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Maxine Eklund; parents-in-law, Harold and Marie Moran; infant daughter Julie, at birth, and stepson Steve Moran.
