Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 1 a.m. Saturday on US 169 in Union County.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, Cori Lynne Angell, 38, of Orient was traveling north on 169 in a 2001 Subaru when a deer ran across the road, causing Angell to swerve her vehicle and enter the ditch, then flipping on its top. No injuries were reported by the investigating deputy.

Damage estimate was $5,000 to Angell’s vehicle.

Jeanette Ford, 76, of Orient was cited for failure to maintain control of her vehicle after an accident 5:22 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Cherry Street Road and 140th Street north of Creston.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, Ford was traveling north on Cherry Street Road in a 2014 Ford when she realized too late there was a stopped 2004 Dodge, driven by Lauren Mikaela Mitchell, 18, of Lorimor, waiting to turn west onto 140th Street in the roadway, and lost control of her vehicle, striking Mitchell’s vehicle in the rear. The investigating deputy reported Ford was adjusting a device, and distracted. Ford, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported by ground EMS to Greater Regional Medical Center after both front and side airbags were deployed. Mitchell was uninjured.

Damage estimates were $8,000 to Ford’s vehicle and $3,000 to Mitchell’s vehicle.
