The Jesse McCann era is about to start for the Nodaway Valley wrestling team. McCann, a former Wolverine wrestler, takes over the reigns from Jeff Ohnemus.
“Really looking forward to working with the student/athletes,” said McCann. “Our hopes as a program is to provide and foster the development of our student/athletes into pursuing excellence in the competitive arena, classroom and in our communities.”
McCann does inherit several wrestlers with varsity experience and hopes to cultivate that.
“We as a program want to re-establish and build off success,” McCann said. “I have high expectations for each individual to reach their goals and the program’s goals.”
McCann has his own goals for the team and will help mold that into reality.
“We are going to build a program that is based on hard work,” he said. “Dedication and most importantly a team that is like family.”
