Phyllis M. Schaffer, 96, of Jackson, Tennessee, formerly of Creston, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017.

A memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. The Rev. Ken Halbur will officiate. There will be a graveside service shortly after Mass at Mount Zion Cemetery, four miles north of Prescott. A funeral Mass was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson, Tennessee. The Rev. Graham officiated. Memorials can be given to St. Malachy School. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Phyllis Margaret Schaffer, daughter of Jessie (Madison) and Albert Eugene McCann, was born Feb. 24, 1921, in Union County. Phyllis graduated from Creston High School in 1939.

In August 1942, Phyllis married Leo W. Schaffer at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Creston. They settled in Creston, where she worked as a waitress at the Creston Depot, and later worked as an assembler at Gits Manufacturing for 45 years, retiring in 1986. Phyllis moved to Jackson, Tennessee, in 2005.

While living in Creston, she was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter Sherry (Ronald) Thomson of Jackson, Tennessee, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husband Leo.
