Another strong year for Hawkeye 10 volleyball came to a close with four teams a state and three H10 squads represented in the state semifinals on Thursday evening.
Senior outside hitter Cayla Maitlen and sophomore libero Makenna Hudson picked up honorable mention honors to lead the way for the Creston Panthers.
Maitlen earned honorable mention honors for the second consecutive year in a season where she led the Panther attack with 249 kills and was 189-226 on serves with 35 aces. Maitlen showcased her versatility in the back row with an additional 183 digs, which was second on the team to Hudson.
Maitlen finished her Panther career with 490 kills and 285 digs.
Hudson had a breakout sophomore year in which she dug up nearly ever volleyball in sight (294 in all).
She was easily a Panther-best 230-236 on serves for a .975 success percentage and 14 aces. That mark of .975 was best in the Hawkeye 10 for any player with over 33 serves.
