Humid conditions stall SWCC runners

ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA — Last Saturday’s Roy Griak Invitational was humid enough in the late morning that the effects were widely felt across the fields.

The Spartans averaged around 30 minutes per member of the team.

“It was super crowded during the race. A lot of our guys didn’t get out well,” SWCC coach Trey Bruton said.

Jalen Two Leggins was SWCC’s top runner at 267th place in 29:32.

Kevin Dietrich, Chance Webster, Shane Breheny and Nathan Bradley all came in between 30:10 and 30:36.

The Spartan women were led by Heather Jessen’s 238th-place finish in a time of 28:06.3.

The Spartans were able to rest some this past week, as well as get valuable training in before this past weekend’s race.

“Today (Wednesday) was great,” Bruton said. “We had some sprint work on the track and everybody looked abut 10 times better than they did before.”

The Spartans competed at the Dan Huston Invite this past Saturday. Results will be in a future edition of the News Advertiser.
