ATLANTIC — The Creston/O-M Panthers fell in a wild finish 19-13 in overtime to the Atlantic Trojans Friday evening.

Creston/O-M elected to go on defense to start overtime. Atlantic fed the ball to Chase Mullenix on its first two snaps, bringing the ball down to the half-yard line of the Panthers. After a Panther offsides penalty, Trojan quarterback Jaxson Eden punched the ball into the end zone just outside the right hash to put Atlantic up 19-13.

The Panthers' first snap in overtime hit Kylan Smallwood in the ankle and bounced back toward the line before being recovered by Atlantic, ending the game.

Atlantic was able to score its second touchdown after recovering a muffed punt inside the red zone. Three incompletions and a false start gave Atlantic a fourth-and-15 on Creston/O-M's 23-yard line when Mullinex made the catch of the game.

A designed jump ball was was brought down by the junior wide receiver at the three-yard line, giving the Trojans a new set of downs. Atlantic quickly capitalized on moving the chains by scoring a touchdown and going up 13-6 in the third quarter.

On the other end, Smallwood finished the night 9 of 15 passing with 151 yards and two touchdowns. Both touchdown passes came in the second half to close out long drives. The Panthers opened the second half with a 13-play, 77-yard drive capped off by a 13-yard Camden Peterson touchdown reception on fourth-and-4.

The second Panther scoring drive started with five consecutive carries by Mitchel Swank set up a 14-yard touchdown reception by Kolby Tomas to tie the game at 13 under a minute into the fourth quarter.

After the game head coach Brian Morrison was proud of the way Creston/O-M fought.

"They played hard for four quarters and had a shot to win it," said Morrison post game. "Super proud of the kids effort, I thought it was a competitive football game."

The loss drops Creston/O-M to 1-4 (0-3 district). The Panthers come home to take on Winterset next week for homecoming.
