Doreen Taylor, 88, of Creston died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at Creston Specialty Care.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, in the chapel at Graceland Cemetery in Creston. The Rev. Dave Tebbenkamp will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3 p.m. at the cemetery chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to First Baptist Church of Creston. Margaret Doreen Taylor, daughter of Walter Lewis Bunzendahl and Edna Grace (Moreland) Bunzendahl, was born March 3, 1929, in Creston where she lived all of her life. She graduated from Creston High School with the class of 1947.

On Sept. 8, 1948, Doreen married Frank Raymond Taylor in Creston. She worked as a homemaker. From about 1965 until 1976, Doreen worked at the Creston manufacturing company Gits Brothers. Starting in 1976 until 1982, she was employed as a waitress at Berning’s. Beginning in 1982 until 1991, Doreen and her sister, Dorothea, cared for their mother. They cleaned numerous homes and business places in the Creston area for about 15 years after their mother’s death.

Doreen was a longtime and active member of First Baptist Church of Creston since Feb. 27, 1938.

Doreen is survived by her son Fred (Donna) Taylor of Creston; sister-in-law Nelle Utterback of Creston; cousin Robert (Maxine) Moreland of Afton; grandchildren: Eric (Ana) Taylor of Washington, Jay Taylor of Des Moines and Emily (Kevin) Schultz of Creston; great-grandchildren, Tatelyn, Koden and Draysen Schultz of Creston and nephews, David Tackett of Creston and Steve Tackett of Des Moines.

Doreen was preceded in death by her father in 1950; husband in 1970; brother-in-law Bob Tackett in 1981; mother in 1991; brother-in-law Louis Utterback in 2008 and sister Dorothea Tackett in 2012.
