Moravia handles Murray 66-6

MORAVIA — Growing pains will be the story for Murray Mustangs football this season, and that rang true for game one as Murray fell 66-6 at Moravia Friday.The Mustangs fell behind 27-0 before mounting a drive that Devin Slaughter finished off with a score.

Slaughter totalled 58 yards on four kick returns.

Reece Held completed three passes on 11 attempts.

No rushing or receiving stats were made available.

Josh Webb led Murray with five tackles, while Slaughter and Cole Lecy each had 3.5 tackles each.

Rilee Werner recovered a fumble for the Mustangs.

Moravia’s Hunter Arbogast completd 7 of 13 passes for 278 yards and four touchdowns. Two of those completions went for 70-plus yards and scores for Nick Martin.

Moravia’s Tucker Babbitt totalled 18 tackles and an interception for the Mohawks.

“Our team is much improved from the start of the season and looking forward to the rest of the season to the rest of the year,” Murray coach Taylor Fulton said. “We hope to continue to grow and get better each game and are looking forward to playing CAM this Friday for our home opener.
