WINTERSET — Christopher Hannon, 42, of Winterset was pronounced dead at the scene after a single-vehicle accident around 9:51 a.m. Saturday in the 2400 block of Cumming Road in Madison County.
According to a Madison County sheriff report, deputies were dispatched after a passerby discovered an overturned vehicle a short distance off the roadway.
Arriving deputies then located Hannon a short distance from the overturned vehicle. Hannon appeared to have been thrown from the vehicle after it missed the curve, entered the ditch and rolled. Hannon was believed to be the lone occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
An investigation into the exact cause of the accident and circumstances surrounding the accident is ongoing.
Assisting the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at the scene was the Iowa Highway State Patrol, Madison County Ambulance, Winterest Fire Department and the Madison County Medical Examiner’s Office.
