Joan Asbury, 91, of Creston died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at Evergreen Memorial Park in Omaha, Nebraska. There will be no public viewing. Memorials may be directed to HCI Hospice House of Creston. Online condolences may be left at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.

Joan Elizabeth Asbury, daughter of Boyd Raymond and Harriett Margaretha (Jess) Hartsock, was born Jan. 20, 1926, in Fremont, Nebraska. Joan graduated from high school in Omaha, Nebraska.

On April 28, 1973, Joan married George Howard Asbury in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Joan worked for 20 years as a secretary for General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) while residing in Little Rock, Arkansas, and Omaha, Nebraska. Joan has lived in Creston the last 20 years.

Joan is survived by her sister-in-law Linda L. Hartsock of Creston; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jane and Hap Michener of Ballwin, Missouri, and Dick and Shirley Hartsock of Lincoln, Nebraska, and nephews and nieces, Jim and Kathy Hartsock and children, Tyler, Andrew and Patrick of Springhill, Kansas, Tim and Robyn Hartsock and children, Jess, Jake and Veka of Clinton, Tom and Wendy Hartsock and children, Samuel and Sydney of Creston, JoAnn and Joey Valdivia and children, Matthew (Robyn) Valdivia and Katie (Anthony) Aiello of Fresno, California, Patty and Mike Stockdale and child Chris Stockdale of Fresno, California, and Ginger Plymesser and children, Chris (Missy) Plymesser and Kim (Mike) Ehrsam of Greenfield.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Harriett Hartsock; husband George in 2011; brothers, Jean and Jim Hartsock and sister-in-law Grace Mary Hartsock.
