David Jennings


David Jennings, 94, of Ellston died Aug. 5, 2017, at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Ellston United Methodist Church, 101 Sherman St., Ellston. The Rev. Bruce Giese will officiate. Family will greet friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Ellston United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left at    

Clark David Jennings, son of Clark and Mary Leota (Young) Jennings, was born March 8, 1923 in Union Township, Ringgold County.

David lived his entire life within 7 miles of his birth place. He worked on a farm on Sand Creek from the age of 17 when his parents bought it until he retired and moved to Tingley.

David was a husband, father, grandfather, farmer and semi-truck and school bus driver. He was active in church, Prairie Fire, 4-H leader, member of Ringgold County Board of Health and Lay Witness Missions.

David is survived by his wife, Wilmina Jennings, of Mount Ayr; two children D.A. “David Alfred” Jennings (Judy) of Branson West, Missouri, and Mary Suzanne Adkisson (Dennis) of Grand River; grandchildren Julia Mae Hunt (Craig) of Des Moines, Jeffrey Jennings Adkisson (Angie) of Winterset, Lyle David Adkisson (Amber) of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, April Elizabeth Adkisson (Björgvin Gislason) of Ramstein AFB, Germany, and Joel Jennings (Hannah) of San Diego, California; great-grandchildren Henry Harrison Hunt, Dartanyen Lyle Adkisson, Promyce Mia Adkisson, Mykailee Belle Adkisson, Shelby Rae Day, Emma Jane Adkisson, Clark David Adkisson, Lilly Grace Adkisson, David Lyle Björgvinsson, Fjóla Rae Björgvinsdottir, Gísli Steffán Björginsson and Björgvin Halldór Björgvinsson and brother Norman B. Jennings (Marian) of Mount Ayr.

David was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ione Wight.
